Samsung t809 USB Connection

For those of you who bought a Samsung t809 like me and were excited to connect it to your computer and manage your contacts only to find out that your computer would not connect to the device try the following fix:

  1. Before you plug your phone into your computer make sure you install the driver and software first.
  2. On your phone go to the Menu -> Settings -> Phone Settings -> USB settings, and select the Modem option and Save.
  3. Plug your phone into your computer and your computer should tell you it found a new USB device. Click next through the windows that pop up until it finishes configuring your new USB device.
  4. Go to your Samsung PC Studio 3 software and it should recognize the new phone.

Hopefully this helps some of you who might be extremely frustrated by the lack of documentation.

Another annoyance many of you have probably stumbled across is the t809’s inability to add your non-DRM enabled mp3’s as a ring tone. An easy fix for this is to change the file name of the mp3 from [file_name].mp3 to [file_name].3gp. You can still play your songs on the phone’s built in mp3 player and now you can set the song as your ring tone. Enjoy!

Ryan,

Will this work with my old black dial-up phone on the wall?

When you say, change the file name from mp3 to [file name].3gp how do you do that? On the t809 after you have copied it to the phone, or on the p.c before you put it on the phone. Sorry I dont know how to ask this question and be any more clear. Thanks for the help, if you dont get confused by my crappy way of explaining it.

The easiest way is to change the file extension on your PC. You can also change the extension on the software that comes with the phone. Hopefully that helps some. By the way, if you don’t see the .mp3 extension at the end of your files then you need to change your view in explorer to show file extensions. To do that, go to tools in My Computer -> Folder Options -> View Tab -> Uncheck the option that reads ‘Hide extensions for known file types’

Yay! Free Paintings!

Can I just say, I have the best mother-in-law a guy could ask for. A few weeks ago my mother-in-law sent my wife and I three abstract paintings that she made just for us. Take a look at the gallery below. We love them! (Check out the photos after the break)
